“Each of my works allow the viewer to create their own story and lets them delve beyond the obviousness of the figures and since each human being is different, the possibilities of interpretation are infinite,” explains Ruben Torres-Rodriguez. “Although my work has meaning when I conceive it, I enjoy hearing people give their own interpretation, which is always different from mine. I think that, although the work of art is born from a very personal concept, its ability to personally connect with the viewer and provoke an emotional response causes it to have universal meaning. This specific piece (La Danza/Dance) was inspired on the joy and love for dance within my own Hispanic-Latino culture.”

Rubén Torres is a visual artist from Tamaulipas, Mexico, with over four decades of dedicated involvement in the arts.
A predominantly self-taught artist, ​Ruben has passionately immersed himself in artistic expression, evolving his craft through relentless study and experimentation. This journey of exploration has endowed him with a profound understanding of various artistic materials; shaping him into a versatile and knowledgeable creator.

Over the course of Ruben's nearly fifty-year career, he has undertaken a multitude of art related courses and has drawn inspiration from esteemed figures in the art world including Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and Frida Kahlo.

Absorbing the essence of their monumental works during his tenure in Mexico City, he has acquired an immense understanding of the power and grandeur inherent in murals, allowing him to transform blank walls to captivating narratives of artistic expression.
